About the Organization
Our mission, history, and approach to locally led humanitarian coordination.
Connecting humanitarian information, organizations, and communities.
Humanity Nexus is a community built on the belief that better information leads to better response. We bring together accessible mapping, verified data, and local leadership so aid moves toward need, not around it.
We believe in partnership, not paternalism: local voices lead, and our platform exists to support and amplify the work already happening on the ground.
We're building this work hub by hub, expanding thoughtfully to new places where our approach can help most.
- Verified, accurate information with clear context
- Community-led mapping that centers local knowledge
- Coordinated response across organizations and regions
“We help reduce duplication, identify response gaps, and mobilize support so resources reach crisis-affected communities more effectively, equitably, and responsibly.”
Humanity Nexus strengthens locally led humanitarian action by easing coordination, improving the visibility of community-led initiatives, and connecting humanitarian practitioners on the ground with donors, diaspora communities, and wider support networks.
“Communities themselves are often the first, most trusted, and most enduring source of support.”
Humanity Nexus was inspired by Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms, community-led networks whose lifesaving work has received international recognition, including consideration among leading candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize. Our vision has also been shaped by mutual-aid networks, local volunteers, and grassroots organizations responding to crises in Palestine, Liberia, and other conflict-affected contexts. Humanity Nexus was created to strengthen this capacity from within: connecting and resourcing local responders, reducing long-term dependency on external intervention, and supporting communities to lead their own recovery and reconstruction.
“Our approach is locally led, conflict-sensitive, and grounded in the humanitarian principle of Do No Harm.”
We map and verify humanitarian initiatives, engage directly with local actors, and promote responsible information-sharing that protects the safety, dignity, and privacy of affected communities. Guided by accountability to affected populations, localisation, and inclusive partnerships, we strengthen coordination without replacing or overshadowing community leadership, while contributing to more responsive, accountable institutions and stronger partnerships in line with SDGs 16 and 17.
